ADCC European Trials 2005PIC (by Magnus Weimer): Sweden’s Martin Lindqvist displays the lightning quick arm bar he used to perfection.The ADCC European trials took place in Stockholm, Sweden, on January 22nd. The winner in each weight class earned an invitation to compete in the ADCC World Championships in Long Beach, California on May 28th and 29th. The competitors showed a lot of skill and there were certainly some memorable moments.Pride fighter Alistair Overeem looked extremely calm throughout the event and submitted four opponents to win the -98.9kg weight division. Another well-known MMA competitor, Joachim Hansen of Norway, ended up losing his first match by decision.Martin Lindqvist from Sweden proved to be both technical and very quick on the ground. Using speed and great technique, he emerged victorious after having submitted Finnish fighter Sauli Heilim? in the finals. Two other Finnish competitors that showed great form were Toni Kr?ger and Marko Helen. They won the -65.9kg and -87.9kg weight divisions, respectively.The last match of the day was the heavyweight final, where Mustafa Al Turk won by submission.
