After winning both the 88 kg and absolute division at the ADCC SubmissionWrestling World Championship, Braulio Estima will make the conversion to MMA.On Monday Shine Fights announced that they signed the grappler to a contract.He is expected to make his debut in April.
Estima is currently training with Renzo Gracie in preparation for Gracie’s UFCdebut at UFC 112 also in April. He normally makes his home in Birmingham,England where he is the owner and operator of a Gracie Barra academy.
At the 2009 ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships, he made a name forhimself with a run that will not soon be forgotten. To win his division he hadto overcome multiple-time world champion and Strikeforce fighter Andre Galvao.In the absolute, he upset the legendary Marcelo Garcia. He then defeated UFCveteran Vinny Magalhaes and world champion Xande Ribeiro to claim the crown.
Estima also finished second in the 88 kg division of the 2007 edition. Inaddition to his exploits in ADCC he is also a three-time world champion and afive-time Pan American champion.
The promotion has not announced any information about a possible opponent or atwhat weight he will fight.
