World JJ Championship 2009
NO VIDEO CAMERAS WILL BE ALLOWED ON FRIDAY, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
Blue Belt Adult Male – Purple Belt Adult male – Open Class Registration.
The athletes who placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each adult blue male and adult purple male weight division are eligible to compete in the Open Class division.
The athletes who are eligible and wish to compete in this division should report to the admin table after your division is finished and the medals are awarded so that you may register.

Gracie Humaita Team Training at UNIJJ
The final touches for the 2009 Worlds are about done and after weeks of grueling workouts the hard training sessions for Gracie Humaita Team are winding down. The team trained at UNIJJ under the watchfull eyes of leader Royler Gracie and direction of both him and Saulo Ribeiro. On the mat at times there were numerous Black Belt World titles including of course Royler’s four, Saulo’s six, Xande’s five, Lovato’s and Leticia’s sharing space with top competitors like Kron Gracie, Regis Lebre, Fredson Alves, Penny Thomas, Ana Carolina Vidal and many others.
Worlds starts this Thursday at the Long Beach Pyramid. Be there!
New Check Mat Academy Opens Today
The newest Checkmat BJJ academy opens today. Located in Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro the academy has Black Belt Chico Mendes as its head instructor/director.
The new chapter of Check Mat is located inside Academia SAFIT, at the SAFERJ (Sindicato dos Atletas de Futebol do Estado do Rio de Janeiro), the SAFIT academy is geared for physiological and physioterapy preparation and recovery for top professional athletes. SAFIT offers the best and most modern equipment and training for fitness and wellness, directed specifically towards the professional athlete of highest level.
The inaugural class will have Professor Ricardo Vieira and a host of other Black Belts from Checkmat BJJ. The first Check Mat BJJ in Tijuca couldn’t have been located at a better spot, as Safit has a first world level grounds and euqipment. Everyone is inivted to teh Grand-Opening.
Classes will be ministered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 20:00 to 21:00 for children and adult classes will be from 21:00 to 22:00.
ADCC East Coast Trials Registration Still Open
East Coast deadline for registration will be Tuesday June 10th at 12am EST. Winners get automatic berthfor the ADCC Worlds in Barcelona, Spain along with transportation, food and lodging and the chance to compete against the best for top prize money.
The East Coast Trials will take place on Saturday June 13th at the:
