There will be a new World Absolute Champion this year as current Champion Xande Ribeiro won’t be there to defend his title. Xande sent us the following note in regards to this:
Dear friends,
It is with great sadness that I inform you of my absence to the World’s Jiu-Jitsu 2009. In my first week of training I injured my medial-collateral ligament on my knee. This injury stopped me from training for the event so unfortunately I won’t be able to compete and defend my title. I want to wish the best of luck to all the competitors and may the best one win. And next year, I am sure I will be healthy, will compete and pursue my third Absolute title.
