Abu Dhabi Worlds 2007 vet David Avellan’s opponent for WEC September 10th has been changed to Aaron Simpson. Avellan was originally set to face Tim McKenzie but due to injury McKenzie had to withdraw.

David has only had two MMA fights but both were noteworthy. In his MMA debut David won the AFC Middleweight title by defeating Andre Daniels in October ’06 while his February ’07 BodogFIGHT bout was a dramatic come from behind victory after Anthony Rea broke Avellan’s nose early in the fight. In the archives David speaks about those fights and his Abu Dhabi experience. He trains with his brother Marcos at FFA in Miami.

Simpson has three TKO wins in BodogFIGHT among others.

This show is to be broadcast on Versus with two title fights; Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown for the Featherweight title and Paulo Filho vs. Chael Sonnen in a rematch for the Middleweight title. The show takes place in American Top Team’s stomping ground Hollywood, FL.
