Rickson Cup Absolute Pictures

The Rickson Cup was held this past weekend in Japan. Black belts from various regions competed in the event. In the finals of the Absolute it was once again Andre Galvao v Eduardo Telles. Galvao won by advantages 4 -2. Kron Gracie won the Brown Belt weight and absolute as well. Kron had a total of 8 matches 4 in the weight class and 4 in the absolute. Kron won all his matches except for the finals of the absolute by submission each in under 3 minutes. In the absolute finals Kron faced Junior Cavalcante, a 220 pounder from Rocha JJ. The match was an epic battle with Kron submitting Junior with 12 seconds to go in the match to continue his incredible submission streak.

Don Geddis Gets it – His Black Belt that is

"Hey Kid!

I know as the sport has been growing there have been many black belt promotions to announce, but this one is kind of special:

Don Geddis, of BJJ.org fame gets his BLACK BELT

One of the true BJJ on the internet pioneers and my good friend Don Geddis (webmaster of BJJ.org among a number of other sites) received his Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu from Ralph Gracie this morning. In addition to running with the earliest and most influential BJJ site on the internet (those from the early days will certainly appreciate his efforts) I can say without hesitation that Don is among the toughest people to ever step foot on the mat. In addition, he is an absolute gentlemen, always willing to lend a helping hand to other students and is an all around swell guy. I’m extremely happy for Don and proud to call him my friend and fellow black belt!

Also, I don’t have pictures, but Ralph in the last two weeks has also awarded Jason Collard and Mikyo Riggs their well deserved black belts.

On a personal note: As Gumby so eloquently puts it, Don has been one fo the pioneers of Internet BJJ, his efforts and dedication were an inspiration to me an many others to take the message of BJJ to the internet masses.  A personal congratulations to Don from Kid
