The Weight is Over:All 18 fighters made weight in the Arrowhead parking lot in Anaheim, California. A fit looking BJ Penn came in three and a half pounds below the welterweight maximum weight while UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes was right on the nose at 170 pounds. The lone heavyweight match pitted the heaviest fighter on the card, Mario Neto at 235.5 pounds fighting late replacement Eddie Sanchez at 223 pounds. During the autograph session at the UFC 63 weigh-ins, Ortiz was eager to show everyone that a contract was in his possession to fight Liddell to become the two time UFC Light-heavyweight Champion. Signatures in place, both sides are read and the third fight between Ortiz and Shamrock will have no affect on this title bout unless an injury occurs.
