ADCC Submission Wrestling Open 1February 11th, 2006Coral Springs Gymnasium, Coral Springs, FLADCC spokesperson Miguel Iturrate gives details about the upcoming event ‘In 2006 and leading up to 2007, the ADCC will have Amateur Grappling tournaments under the official ADCC Submission Wrestling format. This will be the first time that amateurs and grappling competitors can sign up to compete under our rules. The World Championships is by invitation only, but the ADCC Submission Wrestling Open format will make competing under the world famous ADCC Submission rules for the first time for all competitors. Head judge Lubomir Guedjev will be at the tourney to oversee the event.”The ADCC Submission Wrestling Open will be held in Coral Springs, Florida and will be the first of a series of regional tournaments, before the North American Trials. The ADCC has at least 4 other tourneys planned, so that competitors all over the country will be able to compete under the OFFICIAL ADCC Submisssion Wrestling format. Below is the information about the weight categories and skill levels. We hope to see both women and men competing as well as kids. See you all there.’ concludes the spokesperson.Details below:RULES AND REGULATIONS:The competition is tournament style i.e; only winner goes through to the next round.Gi, Kimono & Wrestling Shoes are optional. The mat area is 9 x 9 meters, no cage or fence.If the fighters go out of this area the refree will restart the fight in the center of the mat, in the same position they were when they left the mat. If the fighters were standing, they will start again facing each other.1) Legal Techniques:Any kind of choke (except for using the hand to close the wind pipe). No use of T-Shirt and no holding the shorts allowed Any armbar, shoulder lock, or wrist lock Any Leg Lock or Ankle Lock 2) Illegal Techniques:’Full Nelson’ and ‘Crucifix’ No striking of any kind No eye gouging or fish hooking No grabbing the ears No hair pulling No finger or toe holds No thumbing No scratching and pinching No kicking No biting No touching groin area No hands, knees or elbows on face No slippery substances allowed on body or clothing 3) Securing Points : Mount position = 2 pointsBack mount with hooks = 3 pointsPassing the guard = 3 pointsKnee on stomach = 2 pointsClean Sweeps = 4 pointsSweeps = 4 PointsClean Take down (Ends passed the guard)= 4 pointsTake down (Ends Guard or Half Guard)= 2 points Scoring multiple points: when a fighter passes the guard and goes straight to mount position or to knee on stomach, the fighter will only score three (3) for passing guard. In order to score points for both passing guard and for mount/knee on stomach, the fighter must pass the guard and stay on side mount for three (3) seconds and then go for the mount or knee on stomach.If the fighter starts to change positions without staying in one position for three (3) seconds or more, the judges will only award the final position that they have established for three (3) seconds.Each position must be established for 3 seconds or more in orderfor points to be awarded. When changing multiple positions points will be awarded only for the position that has been established for 3 seconds or more. Reversals are considered Sweeps as well. Penalties:When a fighter voluntarily jumps in the guard or goes from standing position to a non-standing position by any means and remains down for 3 seconds or more, he will be punished by a minus point. When a fighter disengages from contact and starts backing up and avoids to engage again he will be punished by minus point. A passive fighter will be warned twice and then will be punished by minus point. The refree will warn the passive player by the wards ‘WARNING PASSIVITY’ The winner will be decided according to:If one competitor gives up or submits by tapping the leg, arm or verbally If Referee feels one competitor is unable to defend himself or feels his life is in danger, the Referee will declare the winner If a fighter breaks the rules twice he will be disqualified by the Referee Winning by: Submission Points Referee Decision Weight ClassesWEIGHT DIVISIONS: (6 Minute Matches / 12 Minutes in the Finals)MENS:under 65.9 KG66-76.9 KG77-87.9 KG88-98.9 KG99 KG and overWOMENS:60 KG and under60.02 KG and overVENUE:Coral Springs Gymnasium2501 Coral Springs Drive,Coral Springs FLPhone: 954-345-2200We have the venue from 8am til 8pm.SKILL / EXPERIENCE LEVELS:white-blue belt or 0-2 yrs of exp in any grappling discipline = Beginner blue-purple or 2-4 yrs of exp in any grappling discipline = Intermediate brown + black or more than 4 yrs of exp in any grappling discipline = Advanced There will also be kids divisions, by age:10-13 years old / 14-16 years old .WEIGHT CLASSES – MEN?s DIVISIONS:up to 65.99 KG (145 lbs) / 66-76.99 KG (169 LBS) / 77-87.99 KG (193 lbs) / 88-98.99 KG (217 lbs) / 99 KG and overWEIGHT CLASSES – WOMEN?s DIVISIONS:Under 120 lbs / 120-135 lbs / 135-155 lbs / 155 and overWEIGH INS:Weigh ins are schedules at the venue, starting at 7:00 AM.FEES:School Sign Up: $250.00 (thru the 2007 World Championships)Individual Grapplers: $40 / $45 Day of the Event (If School Signed Up, Grapple For $20!!!)DOWNLOAD APPLICATIONS: (in WORD)Below are the applications for individuals and for school affiliation.
