Worlds 2013 is just a few weeks away and all the academies are training hard. Alliance team, who already has over 100 athletes signed up for their title defense will be conducting their Mundial camp from May 13 through the 17 followed by a Marcelo Garcia seminar on the 18th. Checkmat and Atos team also will be conducting training camps soon.
Alliance leader Romero "Jacare" Cavalcanti said: "The Worlds is knocking at the doors and the Alliance teams are training like never before. This year we are looking to secure our 8th title and to close out the Grand Slam so our focus and dedication to the goals are at the highest level. Team members who are not at 110% + level will be on the B team leaving the ones that are best prepared and ready to win on the A team. We expect to have over 300 strong on the team and selection is very tough. The war is won by the rearguard."
Checkmat team has their leader Leo Vieira in town overseeing the training, all tops are stoked to have Leozinho's energy and knowledge around for the final stretch.
Caio Terra up in weight?
One notable change in the Worlds line up is that apparently Caio Terra has moved up in weight. If confirmed (Caio hasn't replied to our calls) he would be facing Gui Mendes amongst others. More on this story as it develops
