The social networking site Facebook (http://facebook.com), which had its fifth anniversary February 4, surpassed its rival MySpace (http://myspace.com) in unique monthly worldwide visitors sometime in 2008, and continues to build upon that lead. Facebook is now said to have over 150 million active users, and is described by PC World as "a household name for communication." Most combat sports, with the notable exception of the stubbornly Jurassic Period sport of boxing, began using the Internet to develop strong online networks and web sites as soon as the World Wide Web took off in the early and mid-1990’s. With the more recent rise of social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook, and the newer growth of microblogging sites like Twitter (http://twitter.com), numerous athletes, fans, media members, trainers, coaches, and even organizations are well represented and relatively easy to be searched out and contacted on these sites.

It should thus come as no surprise that there is now a Facebook discussion group for the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC). It is an open group, and anyone with a free Facebook account can join and invite others to join. In addition, all the admins of this group are based in the United Arab Emirates.

The group is at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=10187160539 .

I hope to see you there. You can also contact me on these sites:
