VTJ – 12/24/2012: “Lion” Takeshi vs. Kenji Osawa at 136 lbs.

WEC / DREAM veteran Kenji Osawa (left) will make a comeback against Takeshi "Lion" Inoue after sidelined for nearly 18 months due to a fracture on his right leg

VTJ added another fight between two big name Japanese fighters.

Takeshi "Lion" Inoue, a former world lightweight (145 lbs) champion of Shooto's, is basically going down to bantamweight to take on a WEC / DREAM vet Kenji Osawa.

This is going to be Inoue's first fight since last year's NYE, but for Osawa, an inactivity was even longer. Since July 2011 Osawa has been sidelined due to the fracture on his right leg. We can expect both of them to be bit rusty but Inoue has been training while Osawa was force to take a long layoff.

Sure, for Osawa, who has fought in WEC and Cage Force, the cage is a familiar ground, and for Takeshi, this is going to be his first experience fighting in the cage. Therefore, Osawa does have an advantage in the experience department but a taller and a younger "Lion" is not necessary a rookie. In fact he is a veteran with 27 pro MMA fights and many experiences of fighting in the big shows.

Depends on how Inoue's body would react at this new weight class but if he can cut weight and recover with no problem then he should be able to do well against Osawa.
