Vassell challenges Bader for LW title at Bellator 186

Linton Vassell

UFC vet Ryan Bader makes his first defense of the Bellator light heavyweight title as he takes on Linton Vassell.  Bellator 186 takes place November 3rd at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, PA with an undercard webstreamed at, main card broadcast on Spike TV.

Over the course of eight years in the UFC Ryan Bader racked up an Octagon record of 15-5 for an overall record of 23-5.  Although Bader never fought for the UFC title his losses were to former champions or challengers Jon Jones, Tito Ortiz, Lyoto Machida, Glover Teixeira, and Anthony Johnson.  After the loss to Johnson Bader defeated Ilir Latifi and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira to end his UFC run then moved over to Bellator where he defeated Phil Davis for the Bellator belt in June.  18-5 Linton Vassell is 7-2 in Bellator with his losses in this promotion being against Emanuel Newton for the belt in October 2014 and former Strikeforce champion Muhammed Lawal in a tournament final in September 2015.  Since the loss to Lawal Vassell defeated Newton in a rematch then won a unanimous decision over Francis Carmont last November and submitted former Bellator champion Liam McGeary in May.

Llima-Lei Macfarlane

The inaugural women’s flyweight title is up for grabs in the co-main event between Llima-Lei Macfarlane and Emily Ducote, a rematch of their April fight at Bellator 167.  Macfarlane is 6-0 with five of those wins coming in Bellator.  After the unanimous decision Ducote Macfarlane submitted Jessica Middleton in April.   6-2 Ducote bounced back with a rear-naked choke of Katy Collins in March and a unanimous decision over Jessica Middleton in July.
