UFC vet Cody Gibson will challenge Tachi Palace Fights featherweight champion Adrian Diaz for the belt in the main event of Tachi Palace Fights 31 while the vacant welterweight title will be on the line in the co-main event. Tachi Palace Fights 31 takes place May 18th at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, CA with a webcast at Sherdog.com.
Adrian Diaz makes his second defense of the TPF title holding a record of 8-4-1. Diaz defeated Andres Quintana for the belt last May and defended it against Emilio Chavez in November but surprisingly took a fight between those two, a bout he lost by unanimous decision to Samuel Toomer III in Global Knockout. 15-6 Gibson is best remembered for going 1-3 in the UFC with a win over John Bedford to go with losses to Aljamain Sterling, Manny Gamburyan, and Douglas Silva. After the Silva loss Gibson returned to TPF where he picked up three wins in a row over Justin Linn, Rolando Velasco, and Kyle Reyes.
In the co-main event for the vacant welterweight title 11-6 Randall Wallace faces 7-5 J.C. Llamas. Wallace took part in the Battleground MMA welterweight tournament pay-per-view in October 2014 where he lost to eventual tournament winner Roan Carneiro in the first round. More recently Wallace went 1-1 last year with a loss to James Terry and a win over Angelo Trevino, both in regional promotions. Llamas is coming off a loss in his Bellator debut to James Terry by unanimous decision, a fight that ended Llamas’ two-win return.
