A middleweight matchup between Thales Leites (26-7) and Sam Alvey (30-8, 1 NC) will be part of the UFC Fight Night 108 card in April. The promotion recently announced the pairing.
UFC Fight Night 108 will be held April 22 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. Featherweights Cub Swanson and Artem Lobov will square off in the headliner.
Leites is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Krzysztof Jotko at UFC Fight Night 100 in November. Prior to that he snapped a two-fight losing streak with a submission win over Chris Camozzi at UFC Fight Night 92 in August. Leites is currently on his second stint in the UFC and was on a five-fight winning streak prior to dropping a split decision to Michael Bisping in July 2015. The 34-year-old Brazilian is ranked No. 12 in the 185-pound division at the moment.
Alvey is riding a four-fight winning streak, most recently scoring a unanimous decision over former title challenger Nate Marquardt at UFC on Fox 23 in January. Before that he had racked up a submission win over Eric Spicely last July, a TKO of Kevin Casey in August and a unanimous decision over Alex Nicholson in November. “Smile’n” Sam holds the No. 15 spot in the UFC middleweight rankings.
