Swanson vs. Lobov headlines UFC Fight Night 108

A featherweight matchup between Cub Swanson (24-7) and Artem Lobov (13-12-1, 1 NC) is set to headline UFC Fight Night 108 in April. Officials confirmed the booking during the UFC 208 broadcast on Saturday.

UFC Fight Night 108 will be held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday, April 22. The event will broadcast live on Spike with early prelims streaming online via UFC Fight Pass.

Swanson is currently ranked No. 4 in the featherweight division and is riding a three-fight winning streak. All three of those wins took place in 2016 and included unanimous decisions over Hacran Dias in April, Tatsuya Kawajiri in August, and most recently, Doo Ho Choi at UFC 206 in December. Swanson found himself on a six-fight winning streak and nearly in title contention between 2012-2014, but a pair of submission losses to Frankie Edgar and Max Holloway stifled that ascent. The 33-year-old Jackson’s MMA product now finds himself very close to a title shot once again.

After dropping his first two UFC bouts, Lobov rebounded this past August with a unanimous decision win over Chris Avila at UFC 202. “The Russian Hammer” then returned in November with a unanimous decision victory over Teruto Ishihara. Lobov made his promotional debut in December 2015 in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 22 lightweight tournament against Ryan Hall but came up short on the judges’ scorecards. He trains out of the famed SBG Ireland gym under coach John Kavanagh and is a teammate of current featherweight champ Conor McGregor.
