A welterweight matchup between Siyar Bahadurzada (22-6-1) and promotional newcomer Abu Azaitar (13-1-1, 1 NC) has been added to UFC Fight Night 115. Bahadurzada announced the news Wednesday on social media.
UFC Fight Night 115 will be held Sept. 2 from Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands. A heavyweight bout between Stefan Struve and Alexander Volkov is expected to headline the card.
Bahadurzada snapped a two-fight skid with a submission win over Brandon Thatch at UFC 196 in March 2016. Prior to that the 33-year-old Afghan-Dutch fighter had been on a two-year hiatus after dropping decisions to John Howard and Dong Hyun Kim in 2013. Bahadurzada won “Knockout of the Night” in his UFC debut back in April 2012 with a 42-second KO of Paulo Thiago. He has finished 11 of his 22 career wins via knockout and seven by submission.
Azaitar is a 31-year-old fighter out of Cologne, Germany. He’s most recently been competing under the World Series of Fighting banner where he posted unanimous decisions over Michael Arrant and Danny Davis Jr. in 2016. Azaitar has won eight of his last nine fights and has finished seven of his 13 career wins via knockout.
