He is persistent.
And, that is the best element of Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito’s game.
In his second title defense, against Junji “Sarumaru” Ito, that is what he exhibited. Naito kept shooting. “Sarumaru” sprawled out more than few times but Naito kept on shooting in.
Only in the fourth round, Ito had his chance.
When Naito shot in, Ito landed a solid knee shot to the chin and that changed pace of the fight. Ito got around on Naito’s back, and from the back-mount, landed bunch of leathers. Ito almost slipped in his left arm for a rear naked choke too. Ito definitely won the fourth round but that was about it.
All the other rounds belonged to Naito.
“Nobita” was like a zombie. Even “Sarumaru” landed knee shots or punches, he just kept on coming, and eventually scored take downs.
After the fight, in the backstage, Naito told the reporters, “Right now my entire head hurts, really. He was targeting my temple. Even punches from the bottom was effective. ‘Sarumaru’ was very strong.”
