Pearl Gonzalez will return to the UFC against the newly signed Poliana Botelho. The UFC officially added the strawweight bout to UFC 216, which takes place Oct. 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After losing in her professional debut in 2012, Gonzalez won five fights in a row and earned a call up to the UFC. In her octagon debut, she fell via submission against Cynthia Calvillo in the third round. In her second professional fight, Gonzalez defeated current UFC fighter Cortney Casey under the XFC banner.
Botelho holds a 5-1 record as a professional and enters the UFC on the back of three-straight victories. In her last fight, she scored a fourth-round finish over Silvana Gomez Juarez at XFC International 11.
In the main event of UFC 216, Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee will fight for the interim UFC lightweight title. In theory, the winner of the interim title will then challenge lightweight champion Conor McGregor.
