PANCRASE 285 – 03/12/2017: Maegarie and Mamoru wins Pancrase Title – Full Results

Nazareno Malegarie

In the headliner of Pancrase 285, Nazareno Malegarie overwhelmed UFC veteran Issei Tamura and became new Pancrase champion at 145 lbs & under.

This was all Malegarie from the very start.

Argentinian pressured Tamura the landed a solid left hook. Tamura backed off. Malegarie pushed Tamura to the cage then landed another left hook. Tamura wobbled and Malegarie took him down. And from there Malegarie got the back-mount and finished the fight with a rear naked choke.

This was, hands down, no doubt, a complete domination by Malegarie.

The new champ is expected to defend title against either number one ranked Hatsu Hioki or number two ranked Marlon Sandro later in the year.

In the co-main, a 39-year old challenger Mamoru edged out the champion Miki Ryuichi and became the new Pancrase champion at 125 lbs & under.

For all fiver rounds, these two engaged in the striking battle.

The former Shooto world champion was just more effective than Miki.

Not just only punches, elbow strikes, low kicks, and body kicks but also Mamoru was able to land more significant strikes with tricky combinations like left body kick followed by spinning back fist.

After winning the first and the third round, Mamoru was under control.
In contrary, Miki became bit too anxious. Shot in several times in the fourth round but Mamoru was able to defend all of them.  Miki sort of tried to force too much in this round.

Miki did come back in the fifth round though, but it was just too late.
Two judges did give Miki the final round but in overall Mamoru won via split decision and became new Pancrase flyweight champion.
