Satoru Kitoka and Kazuki Tokudome will fight for the vacant King of Pancrase lightweight title. This is going to be the headliner of Pancrase 271.
Tokudome is signed with UFC in 2013 but after posting less than impressive 1-3 record in the Octagon, he was released in fall of 2014. Tokudome quickly signed with Pancrase, and won two in row this year to get this title shot opportunity.
For Kitaoka, this is going to be his 60th pro MMA fights. In past 15 years Kitaoka has fought for many top promotions in Japan such as DREAM, Sengoku, IGF, DEEP and Pancrase. He is currently on a five-fight win streak. Already defeated top young prospects like Yuki Okano, Akira Okada, and Naoto Miyazaki, as well as as super veterans like Yoshiyuki "Zenko" Yoshida. He is the current DEEP lightweight champion, and, definitely the best Japanese lightweight outside UFC today.
Tokudome is only 28 years old, and probably looking for a way to get back into UFC so this is a big opportunity for him. Just beating Kitaoka may not get him another shot in the Octagon but if Tokudome wins this then he can claim that he is the best Japanese lightweight outside UFC.
