PANCRASE 267 – 05/31/2015: Tokudome dominates Ambrose – Full Results

Kazuki Tokudome (top) controlled ground game against JJ Ambrose (bottom) to score second straight win since he was released from UFCKazuki Tokudome went back and forth between mount and half-mout positions to dominate JJ Amborse to score two wins in a row since he got released from UFC.

Ambrose tried to control the fight in the beginning though.

He came out with punches. Tokudome backed off but slipped and lost his balance.

Ambrose took an advantage of this, chased with punches, grabbed Tokudome and executed a neck throw. Then, from the top, Ambroise went for a guillotine choke.

But that was about it though.

When Ambrose tried to lock in the neck for a guillotine, Tokudome used this timing to reverse the position. And the rest of the round, about four minutes, Tokudome utilized mount and half-mount to control the ground battle.

In the second round, Tokudome started to take over, first, in the standing department.

He landed hard left punch to the body, then kicks to inside the leg, followed by a high kick.

Since he got cut from UFC, Tokudome has been training at the Silver Wolf, a renown kick boxing gym founded by K-1 MAX champion MASATO. And, back in March, he knocked out Yoshihiro Koyama in just 94 seconds so he must be feeling confident in his striking game now. The improvement in his striking made Tokudome a better grappler in MMA. In this fight, Tokudome was able to establish his pace with striking then scored more than few take downs.

In second and third rounds of this fight were just like that. After damaging or backing off Ambrose with punches and kicks, Tokudome shot in, took a Bellator veteran down. Then, he kept a top position by being on the mount or the half-mount position.

This was a hands-down complete domination by Tokudome, and apparently, all three judges felt the same. The judges score cards were 30-27, 30-27, 30-27, an unanimous decision win for Tokudome.
