PANCRASE 266 – 04/26/2015: Sandro confirmed to face Isao

ISAOOn Monday, Pancrase announced the opponent of Marlon Sandro in Pancrase 266.

It’s going to be ISAO so this is a battle of two former King of Pancrase.

Sandro took the featherweight title back in 2008, and, ISAO was a lightweight champ till he relinquished the belt late last year.

Sure, a 26-year old from Sakaguchi Dojo is coming off from a loss but that was a very close fight against the current DEEP featherweight champion Kazunori Yokota. A 37-year old veteran with a lots of experience. However, prior to that fight, in his first featherweight bout, ISAO looked better than solid against DREAM veteran Lion Takeshi.

Besides Yokota and the King of Pancrase of this weight class, Takumi Nakayama, right now, ISAO is the best Japanese featherweight available in the market.

Last year, the featherweight division in Pancrase was not exactly the deepest in the Japanese MMA. But that started to change end of last year. The 22-year old promotion signed UFC veteran Will Chope. Followed by Sandro. And now ISAO is in the mix, then there is Nam Phan, who is scheduled to challenge Nakayama next. All of sudden, the featherweight division of Pancrase looks like they got the best 145 lbs division in the Japanese MMA.
