PANCRASE 247 – 05/19/2013: Robert out Brown steps in to face Fujino

A seasoned veteran in the fight sports, Emi Fujino, is going to take on a youngster Monica Brown in Pancrase 247Monica Lovato is out because, according to Pancrase, a veteran from team FIT NHB got into an auto accident, therefore, her team mate, Amber Brown, is now going to face Emi Fujino in Pancrase 247.

Brown is 24 years old with only two pro MMA fights under her belt. If she had many amateur bouts then that would be different but she doesn't so, this is going to be a tough fight for Brown. In fact, its fair to say, its a lopsided match-up.

Although in the Pancrase release, she is supposed to be an "aggressive boxer" but Fujino is a seasoned veteran. Not just she is 11-6-0 in pro MMA but also, she has three pro kick boxing, four Shoot Boxing, and six amateur MMA bouts in her resume. On paper, that is far ahead of Brown. Some athletic commissions in the US may even not allow these two athletes to fight but this is in Japan. Its Pancrase so this is going to happen and most had to be predicting an easy win by Fujino.

Who knows though. Anything could happen in sports. And if Fujino somehow decided to not do a ground game and just engages in a striking bout then Brown could land good shots.

But more than anything, what's interesting about this is that Pancrase booked someone besides Rin Nakai. Kikuyo Ishikawa is also confirmed to fight in Pancrase Okinawa show. These two gals are regulars at JEWELS show. But now they are in Pancrase, and 20-year old MMA promotion is actually flying in Fujino's opponent from US. That is a significant investment to women's division. So this maybe a clear indication that Pancrase is looking to develop their women's division beyond just promoting Rin Nakai.
