PANCRASE – 12/01/2012: Super-Flyweight Title Bout

Kiyotaka Shimizu's fifth King of Pancrase title defense is going to be Yuki Yasunaga from Tokyo Yellow Man's.

Pancrase revealed three fight cards for the upcoming December show.

In the super-flyweight title bout, the champion Kiyotaka Shimizu, in his fifth title defense, is going to take on Yuki Yasunaga.

Shimizu recently fought in Shooto and posted less than impressive record of 2-2 which didn't exactly make Pancrase fans too happy. Therefore, although he has already defended this title four times a 28-year old from team TRIBE TOKYO M.M.A. needs to defend this belt relatively in a convincing manner.

However Yasunaga is no push over.

Sure he took bunch of losses earlier in the career but he is 7-0 ever since he came to Pancrase in 2011. You can never under estimate a 29-year old with 14 pro fights under his belt currently on a seven-fight winning streak.

Koji Oishi, who fought Nick Diaz at 170 lbs in the UFC back in 2005, is now going down to 145 lbs. After losing lightweight King of Pancrase to ISAO in April 1st of this year, apparently Oishi, who is 5'8" and a 35-year old, realized he can suck in another 10 pounds.

And for his first featherweight bout, Oishi is going to take on a very powerful Jon Shores from team Rodeo Style.

In his twelve pro fights Shores only lost once which was against the current King of Pancrase at this weight class, Takumi Nakayama.

Both fighters' styles are wrestling and boxing. Shores has an advantage in the power department while Oishi has more persistency and experience.

We can expect to see a close fight between these two.

The third fight announced on this day was a bantamweight bout between Yuta Numakura and Tatsuya So.
