The UFC has announced that lightweights Olivier Aubin-Mercier and Tony Martin will fight. The bout will be part of UFC Fight Night 116, which takes place Sept. 16 at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh.
Aubin-Mercier reached the finals of the “The Ultimate Fighter: Nations” in 2014. In the finale bout, he fell to Chad Laprise. Since that fight, he has gone 5-1 with his only loss coming against Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC on Fox 18. The Canadian has bounced back from that defeat with a pair of victories over Thibault Gouti and Drew Dober.
Martin got off to a tough start in the UFC. He lost three of his first four bouts in the Octagon after joining the promotion in 2014. However, after falling via submission against Leonardo Santos in 2015, Martin has won three-straight fights over Felipe Olivieri, Alex White and Johnny Case.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 116, former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold will return to action against former World Series of Fighting champion Dave Branch. Also on the card, former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard faces off against Anthony Smith.
