(New Jersey) – The New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame is extremely proud of its third class of inductees to the New Jersey Martial Arts Hall of Fame. This class will be honored at the third dinner gala to be held at the beautiful La Quinta Inns & Suites on December 5, 2014.

On December 5th, Dr. Steven Oxler will be inducted as Ringside Physician.

Dr. Steven Oxler, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, has been a ringside physician for the New Jersey Athletic Control Board since 1995.  He is a practicing Emergency Medicine physician at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury, New Jersey and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Oxler proudly served in the United States Navy for 27 years retiring at the rank of Captain. He is a veteran of Desert Storm, and served as Director of Medical Services, Fleet Hospital 15, in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

He continues to act as a consultant to the Defense Medical Readiness Training Institute (DMRTI) at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX.  Dr. Oxler is a Subject Matter Expert in the fields of Mass Casualty Triage and the medical treatment of Chemical & Biological Warfare and teaches in the Emergency Preparedness Response Course and the Homeland Security Health Professionals Course at DMRTI.

As an adjunct faculty professor in the Biology Department of Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ, Dr. Oxler teaches Human Anatomy and Physiology.  He is adjunct faculty at the University of Sciences in Philadelphia in the Physician Assistant Studies Program where he is the medical director of the Emergency Medicine course.  Dr. Oxler has been an instructor in the Paramedic Sciences course at Camden County College, Blackwood, NJ, since 1985. He is a board member of Healthcare Quality Solutions, Inc.

Dr. Oxler resides in Moorestown, NJ with his wife, Karen, also a Navy Veteran. Their daughter, Elizabeth, is a doctoral candidate at the University of Louisiana Lafayette. When not at work in the Emergency Department or teaching, Dr. Oxler can be found playing Texas Hold-em poker in Atlantic City or playing tennis.
