A flyweight matchup between Ashkan Mokhtarian (13-3) and Jenel Lausa (7-4) has been added to June’s UFC Fight Night 132 card. News of the bout was recently announced.
UFC Fight Night 132 will take place on June 23 in Singapore, though a venue for the event has not been officially determined. A featherweight matchup between former champ Jose Aldo and Jeremy Stephens is in the works to headline the card.
Mokhtarian is looking to rebound from a two-fight skid. The 32-year-old Australian made his promotional debut against John Moraga in June of last year at UFC Fight Night 110 but lost a unanimous decision. “The Assassin” returned to action this past November but was stopped by Ryan Benoit via head kick KO.
Mokhtarian is a former Eternal MMA and Wollongong Wars Bantamweight Champion and former War in the West Featherweight Champion. Six of his 13 career wins have been by knockout and six by submission.
Lausa is also in a two-fight slump after winning his octagon debut against Yao Zhikui via unanimous decision in Nov. 2016. In April of last year he dropped a unanimous decision to Magomed Bibulatov. And most recently “The Demolition Man” lost a unanimous decision to Eric Shelton at UFC Fight Night 121 last November.
Lausa is a former Pacific Xtreme Combat Flyweight Champion. The 29-year-old Filipino fighter has finished two of his seven career victories by knockout and two by submission.
