Recently news broke that Misha Cirkunov would return to the UFC. Now, he has an opponent for his Octagon return. Cirkunov will face Volkan Oezdemir. The bout will be part of UFC Fight Night 109, which takes place May 28 at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden.
Cirkunov signed with the UFC in 2015. He went 4-0 in the promotion with victories coming over Daniel Jolly, Alex Nicholson, Ion Cutelaba and Nikita Krylov. After defeating Krylov at UFC 206, the fighter was not re-signed and became a free agents. A few weeks later the promotion brought him back.
Oezdemir recently joined the UFC and took a late notice bout against former title challenger Ovince Saint Preux. He managed to score the upset via split decision. The victory improved the Swiss fighter’s professional record to 13-1. From 2013-2014, Oezdemir fought twice for Bellator and split a pair of fights. He defeated Josh Lanier and then fell against Kelly Anundson.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 109, a pair of former light heavyweight title challengers, Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixeira, face off.
