Former UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza will return to action against Maryna Moroz. Multiple media sources have confirmed that the bout has been added to UFC Fight Night 112, which takes place June 25 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
Esparza won the 20th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” and, in the process, became the first UFC women’s strawweight champion. In the finale of the tournament, she scored a third-round submission over Rose Namajunas. In her first title defense, Esparza fell to current champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and lost the belt. Esparza will be looking to get back on track after dropping a close decision in her last fight against fellow castmate Randa Markos.
Moroz joined the UFC in 2015 and has gone 3-1 in the promotion. In her debut, she scored an upset via submission over Joanne Calderwood. After losing to Valerie Letourneau, Moroz has bounced back with back-to-back wins over Cristina Stanciu and Danielle Taylor.
The main event of UFC Fight Night 112 is currently unknown. However, the card will feature former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion B.J. Penn taking on Dennis Siver in a featherweight contest.
