A featherweight matchup between Felipe Arantes (18-8-1) and Josh Emmett (11-1) has been added to the UFC Fight Night 118 card. UFC officials announced the booking on Friday.
UFC Fight Night 118 will be held Oct. 21 from Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. A welterweight showdown between Donald Cerrone and Darren Till is expected to headline the card.
Arantes was scheduled to face Luke Sanders at UFC Fight Night 116 earlier this month, but was forced to withdraw just two days before the event due to illness. The 29-year-old Brazilian was last seen in action in Nov. 2016 when he dropped a split decision to Erik Perez in the TUF: Latin America 3 Finale.
Arantes had been on a two-fight winning streak prior to that, scoring a submission win over Jerrod Sanders in July of last year and a submission over Yves Jabouin in Aug. 2015. Now 5-4-1 inside the octagon, “Sertanejo” has finished seven of his 18 career wins via knockout and six by submission.
Emmett was on an eleven fight unbeaten streak before dropping a split decision to Desmond Green at UFC 210 in April. Prior to that he had won a unanimous decision over Scott Holtzman last December, as well as a split decision over Jon Tuck in his UFC debut in May 2016.
Emmett is a former West Coast Fighting Championship lightweight champion and trains out of Team Alpha Male in his hometown of Sacramento, Calif. Three of his 11 career wins have been by knockout and two by submission.
