Emeev and Buchinger to defend titles at M-1 Challenge 73

M-1 Global conclude their 2016 year with two title fights at M-1 Challenge 73 with Ramazan Emeev defending the middleweight title, Ivan Buchinger defending the featherweight belt.  M-1 Challenge 73 takes place December 9th in Nazran, Ingushetia, Russia with a webcast through the promotion’s website.

14-3 Ramazan Emeev first held the M-1 Challenge middleweight title from his defeat of Mario Miranda in November 2012 through a rematch in April 2013 before losing it to Vyacheslav Vasilevsky in September 2013.  In April 2015 Emeev recaptured the belt in a rematch against Vasilevsky and has since defended it against Luigi Fioravanti then picked up a non-title win over Bellator vet Maiquel Falcao in April of this year.  Anatoly Tokov stands 24-1 with his sole loss being a KO from Magomed Magomedkerimov in December 2011, his subsequent 17-fight win streak being capped with a unanimous decision over Vladimir Filipovic in June.

In the co-main event Ivan Buchinger makes his second title defense as he takes on undefeated Magomed Idrisov.  31-4 Buchinger took the then-vacant title with a TKO of Tural Ragimov in October 2014 and defended it against Mansour Barnaoui while his wins over Aliyar Sarkerov and Mikhail Korobkov were non-title fights.  Idrisov is undefeated but much less experienced at 6-0.  In M-1 Challenge events Idrisov defeated Yuri Maia, Max Coga, and Sergej Grecicho.
