A welterweight matchup between Dong Hyun Kim (22-3-1, 1 NC) and Colby Covington (11-1) will take place at UFC Fight Night 111 in Singapore. UFC officials recently announced the booking.
UFC Fight Night 111 will be held on June 17 from Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang. The main event features a women’s bantamweight matchup between former champ Holly Holm and Bethe Correia.
Kim is currently ranked No. 7 in the division and is riding a three-fight winning streak. “Stun Gun” most recently won a split decision over Tarec Saffiedine at UFC 207 in December. Prior to that he had scored a TKO win over Dominic Waters in November 2015 and a submission win over Josh Burkman earlier in the year. The 35-year-old South Korean has won seven of his last eight outings, with his only loss during that time being a TKO to Tyron Woodley in 2014. Kim is 13-3 (and 1 No Contest) during his UFC tenure which began in 2008. His only other losses inside the octagon were to Demian Maia in 2012 and Carlos Condit in 2011.
Covington is also riding a three-fight winning streak, most recently scoring a unanimous decision over Bryan Barberena at UFC on Fox 22 in December. Before that he had beaten Max Griffin via TKO last August and scored a submission win over Jonathan Meunier in June of last year. Now 6-1 inside the octagon, Covington’s only career loss came via submission against Warlley Alves at UFC 194 in December 2015. The 29-year-old American Top Team product also holds UFC wins over Mike Pyle, Wagner Silva and Anying Wang. Six of his 11 career wins have been by submission.
