A middleweight matchup between Derek Brunson (16-5) and Dan Kelly (13-1) has been added to UFC Fight Night 110. Promotion officials announced the bout this week.
UFC Fight Night 110 will be held June 11 from Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. Heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Mark Hunt will clash in the main event.
Brunson is coming off a controversial decision loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 208 in February. Prior to that he had a five-fight winning streak snapped by Robert Whittaker at UFC Fight Night 101 this past November. Brunson staked his claim as one of the division’s best when he scored consecutive first-round knockout victories over Ed Herman, Sam Alvey, Roan Carneiro and Uriah Hall. Currently ranked No. 9 in the 185-pound division, the 33-year-old North Carolina native has scored 8 of his 16 wins via knockout and 4 by submission.
Kelly opened the eyes of many fans when he earned a split decision nod over former light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans at UFC 209 earlier this month. Going into the fight Kelly had put together consecutive victories over Steve Montgomery, Antonio Carlos Junior and Chris Camozzi. The 39-year-old Judo Olympian’s only career loss was a TKO to Sam Alvey back in May 2015. Kelly is now 6-1 in his UFC tenure.
