DEEP 81 – 12/23/2017: Alvarez out and a 19-year old Sung will face Ishizuka

Nak Joong Sung

Roman Alvarez, who was scheduled to face Koichi Ishzuka in DEEP 81, is out due to the injury and Nak Joong Sung from Korea will be the replacement.

DEEP announced this on Thursday.

Sung is only 19 years old.

He began boxing training at age 16,  BJJ when he was 17 but didn’t start training MMA till 2015.
Sung has fought for the Road FC Inter-League and won all of his five fights. So its fair to say that Sung is a very good looking young up and comer from Korea.

However those fights were all considered as amateur bouts so this is going to be Sung’s pro MMA debut.

Ishizuka fought Hiroto Uesako for the DEEP featherweight title in July but that was the only fight he had at 145 lbs.

He is back at 135 lbs division and looking to get back into the W column.

At 135 lbs, Ishizuka is actually 11-2-1, therefore, on paper the Japanese fighter has to be the favorite because he is basically taking on 0-0 guy.
