A light heavyweight showdown between Jared Cannonier (10-3) and Dominick Reyes (8-0) will take place at May’s UFC Fight Night 129 card in Chile. UFC officials recently confirmed the addition to the card.
UFC Fight Night 129 will take place May 19 at Movistar Arena in Santiago. The event will mark the promotion’s first visit to the South American country. A main event for the card is expected to be finalized soon.
Cannonier is looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Jan Blachowicz at UFC on Fox 26 in December. Prior to that “The Killa Gorilla” knocked out Nick Roehrick at The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale last July.
Cannonier is now 3-3 inside the octagon and also holds wins over Ion Cutelaba and Cyril Asker from 2016. The 33-year-old Dallas native has finished five of his 10 career victories via knockout and three by submission.
Reyes remains undefeated in his pro MMA career and is 2-0 inside the octagon. “The Devastator” made his promotional debut last June with a 29-second TKO stoppage of Joachim Christensen at UFC Fight Night 112. He returned to action in December with a first-round submission over Jeremy Kimball at UFC 218.
A former NFL hopeful, Reyes made the transition to pro MMA in Dec. 14 with King of the Cage. The 28-year-old California native has finished five of his eight career wins via knockout and two by submission.
