A women’s bantamweight matchup between Sarah Moras (4-2) and Ashlee Evans-Smith (5-2) is set to go down at UFC 216. News of the bout was recently announced by the promotion.
UFC 216 is scheduled to take place Sept. 9 from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Bout order and main event are still to be determined.
As a member of Team Tate on The Ultimate Fighter 18, Moras picked up wins over Tara LaRosa and Peggy Morgan before losing to eventual winner Julianna Pena in the semi-finals. Evans-Smith first gained the MMA world’s attention when she handed transgendered fighter Fallon Fox her first loss, via TKO, at CFA 12 in Oct. 2013. About a year later “Rebel Girl” made her octagon debut at UFC 181 but was submitted by Raquel Pennington. Evans-Smith rebounded with a decision over Marion Reneau in Feb. 2016, then a TKO over Veronica Macedo last September.
