The UFC has officially announced a middleweight contest between Antonio Carlos Junior and Jack Hermansson. The bout will be part of UFC Fight Night 119, which takes place Oct. 28 at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Carlos Junior won the third season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” at heavyweight. In the finale bout, he scored a decision over Vitor Miranda. Following the show, Carlos Junior dropped down to middleweight. In his first three bouts, he went 1-2 with a victory over Eddie Gordon and losses coming against Patrick Cummins and Daniel Kelly. However, since losing to Kelly, Carlos Junior has won three fights in a row over Leonardo Guimaraes, Marvin Vettori and Eric Spicely.
Hermansson enters this fight coming off back-to-back knockout wins over Alex Nicholson and Brad Scott. The Swedish fighter joined the UFC in 2016 and split his first two bouts with a victory over Scott Askham and a loss against Cezar “Mutante” Ferreira. He holds a 16-3 record as a professional.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 119, former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida returns to action against Derek Brunson in a middleweight fight.
