The UFC has announced that former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will return to action against Tai Tuivasa. The bout will be part of UFC 225. The pay-per-view event takes place June 9 at the United Center in Chicago.
Arlovski has recently fought off calls for retirement with a pair of victories. At UFC Fight Night 120, he stopped a five-fight losing streak with a decision victory over Junior Albini. In his last fight at UFC 222, he upset Stefan Struve on the main card. Since rejoining the UFC in 2014, he has gone 6-5 in the promotion.
In 2005, Arlovski defeated Tim Sylvia for the interim UFC heavyweight title. After his first title defense, the UFC promoted him to full champion. Arlovski then lost the title back to Sylvia in 2006.
Tuivasa signed with the UFC last year with an undefeated record, and he has continued his winning ways inside the Octagon. In his UFC debut, he stopped Rashad Coulter at UFC Fight Night 121. He returned at UFC 221 and scored another first-round stoppage over Cyril Asker. His professional MMA record currently stands at 9-0.
In the main event of UFC 225, UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker will put his title on the line against interim champion Yoel Romero. Whittaker defeated Romero for the title last July, but he has been out of action with injuries since.
