WSOF-GC (World Series of Fighting Global Championship) held a press conference in Tokyo on Wednesday.
WSOF-GC president Shawn Wright, director & partner Dunessa Hesser, vice president of operations Jason Lilly, director of operations Darren Owen, WSOF-GC ring girl Michelle Owen, along with two fighters, Michihiro Omigawa and Yoshihiro Koyama, attended this press conference.
Obviously this is mainly for the Japanese market so WSOF-GC began the conference with explaining about the promotion. WSOF-GC basically stated that they are the organization that runs the MMA shows under the brand name "WSOF-GC" and they are the company that handles WSOF shows outside North America. And, the promotion is doing their inaugural show in Hainan, China on November 21, followed by an another show in January, then for the third installment, WSOF-GC revealed that they will be doing the show at Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan on February 7th, 2016.
For their inaugural show in China, Yoshihiro Koyama is confirmed to fight in the semi-final of the lightweight championship tournament. If he wins then he will be in the final, which will be held in February 7th Japan show, and that means Koyama may get to fight for a inaugural WSOF-GC lightweight title in front of hometown crowd.
PRIDE / UFC veteran Michihiro Omigawa signed with WSOF-GC and he will also be fighting in February 7th Japan show. The opponent is yet to be determined, however, Omigawa said, "There is going to be a Japan show in February but as 'the judo-ka that just fights' I have to beat whoever they put in front of me. Please just watch judo-ka Michihiro Omigawa."
