World Series of Fighting has announced an addition to their upcoming event. Featherweights Chris Gruetzemacher and John Gunderson will face off at WSOF, which takes place March 29 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Gruetzemacher will take a big step up in his career this spring. To this point, his biggest brush with the MMA mainstream was scoring a knockout of Ryan Diaz at Strikeforce Challengers 10. In his last fight, he scored a third-round knockout of TUF veteran Roli Delgado at ShoFight 20. The MMA Lab fighter will bring an 11-1 fight into the cage.
Gunderson made his IFL debut in 2007 with a 22-5-2 record. At that point, he had already picked up victories over Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett and Bryan Caraway. He went 1-3 under the IFL banner before returning to the local circuit. In 2010, Gunderson went 1-2 in the UFC with his lone win coming over Mark Holst. In his last outing, he made his WSOF debut and dropped a decision to Dan Lauzon.
In the main event of WSOF 9, welterweight champion Steve Carl will defend his title against UFC veteran Rousimar Palhares. Also on the card, Marlon Moraes and Josh Rettinghouse will vie for the inaugural bantamweight title.
