Vitor Miranda to welcome Julian Marquez to the Octagon

UFC middleweight Vitor Miranda

The UFC has announced a middleweight bout between veteran Vitor Miranda and newcomer Julian Marquez. The bout will be part of UFC on Fox 26, which takes place Dec. 16 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.

Miranda joined the UFC after competing on the third season of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.” After losing in the finale against Antonio Carlos Junior, Miranda bounded back with three-straight victories over Jake Collier, Clint Hester and Marcelo Guimaraes. However, the Brazilian has now lost back-to-back fights against Chris Camozzi and Marvin Vettori.

Marquez turned professional in 2015, and he has quickly built a 6-1 record. He recently defeated Phil Hawes in the main event of Dana White’s Contender Series 4, which earned him a shot in the UFC. He previously defeated UFC veteran Matt Hamill at Combate Americas 9.

A main event for UFC on Fox 26 has not been announced at this point.
