UFC newcomer Dmitry Poberezhets gets new opponent for UFC 211
Ukrainian heavyweight Dmitry Poberezhets was set to face Jarjis Danho in his UFC debut at UFC 211. Now, Danho has been forced off the card with an injury. Poberezhets will now face Chase Sherman at the event, which takes place May 13 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
Poberezhets holds a 24-5-1 record as a professional and has not lost since 2012. During his run, he has fought mostly in his native Ukraine. Also in 2012, he defeated two-time Olympic Greco-Roman wrestler Eddy Bengtsson. In his last fight, Poberezhets scored a first-round knockout over Sandro Bezerra at MixFace 1.
Sherman earned a shot in the UFC after defeating Jack May at Titan FC 38. However, after two bouts inside the Octagon, he is still looking for his first UFC win. Sherman made his debut against Justin Ledet and fell via decision. He returned at UFC Fight Night 103 and suffered a knockout at the hands of Walt Harris.
In the main event of UFC 211, UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will look to defend his title against former champion Junior dos Santos. The two previously faced off at UFC on Fox 13, and Dos Santos walked out with a decision win.
