Torres, Manflo defend titles at Titan FC 48

Two titles were defended at Titan FC 48 with Jose Torres defending the flyweight title and Raush Manflo defending the lightweight title.  Titan FC 48 took place February 16th at the Xtreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale, FL with a webcast at UFC Fight Pass.

The first two minutes of the main event saw Jose Torres move forward taking punches to land punches with the exchanges being relatively even.  At about two minutes Torres landed a right jab that seemed to affect Alberto Orellano leading Orellaano to try to take “Shorty” down.  Torres quickly returned to his feet where Torres resumed stalking Orellano giving more damage than he took in return.  With just under a minute left in the first round Torres switched to the body firing off a right to the midsection followed by a left hook to the body and a right hook to the chin that knocked Orellano out.  Torres’ second defense of the flyweight title along with his bantamweight TFC belt kept Torres the “champion champion” or two-division champion with a record of 6-0, Orellano dropped to 6-3.

Lightweight champion Raush Manflo had a slow start to his title defense against Lee Henry Lilly.  Lilly appeared to take rounds 1 and 2 with effective counter-punching including a knockdown of the champion in the second.  Manflo switched gears in the third edging out the round with strikes while the fourth saw Manflo open a cut under Lilly’s eye with his jab.  The fifth round was more one-sided as Manflo continued to land his jab to the face of Lilly resulting in a unanimous decision for Manflo.  Manflo’s record improved to 11-2 while Orellano fell to 6-3.

The vacant welterweight title was also on the line between Rami Hamed and Jose Caceres but the bout was declared a “no contest”.  About half-way through the first round Rami Hamed was circling to his left when Jose”.  About half-way through the first round Rami Hamed was circling to his left when Jose Caceres fired off a kick that ended up striking the cup of “the Russian”.  As a result of the blow being ruled accidental the fight was declared a “no contest”.  Hamed remains 6-1, Caceres 13-7.
