May’s UFC 211 fight card continues to come together with the addition of a flyweight matchup between 2008 Olympic wrestling gold medalist Henry Cejudo (10-2) and Roufousport standout Sergio Pettis (15-2). UFC officials announced the booking this week.
UFC 211 takes place May 13 from American Airlines Center in Dallas. The card is headlined with a heavyweight title fight as Stipe Miocic defends his belt against Junior Dos Santos, and in the co-headliner, Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends her strawweight title against Jessica Andrade.
Cejudo is currently ranked No. 2 in the 125-pound division but has lost his last two outings. Riding a 10-fight unbeaten streak Cejudo earned a shot at Demetrious Johnson’s flyweight title at UFC 197 in April of last year but was stopped in the first round via TKO. The 30-year-old freestyle wrestling champion returned in December but lost a split decision to No. 1 ranked Joseph Benavidez at the TUF 24 Finale. Cejudo has posted wins over Jussier Formiga, Chico Camus, Chris Cariaso and Dustin Kimura since making his UFC debut in 2014.
Pettis is currently ranked No. 5 in the division and is riding a three-fight winning streak. In January Pettis won a unanimous decision over John Moraga at UFC Fight Night 103. Prior to that he had unanimous decision wins over Chris Kelades in April of last year and Chris Cariaso in October 2015. Now 3-1 since dropping to flyweight, the 23-year-old younger brother of former lightweight champ Anthony Pettis is looking for his first shot at the flyweight belt.
