Tonya Evinger has announced that she has been forced out of her upcoming bout against Marion Reneau with an injury. The match was set to be part of UFC Fight Night 126, which takes place Feb. 18 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas.
For her UFC debut, Evinger moved up to featherweight and faced off against Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino. She made it to the third round but ultimately lost via knockout. The defeat snapped a seven-fight winning streak for Evinger with all bouts coming under the Invicta FC banner. In 2015, she defeated Irene Aldana to claim the promotion’s vacant bantamweight title. Evinger then defended the belt three times before leaving for the UFC.
Reneau is coming off a third-round knockout over Talita Bernardo on the main card of UFC Fight Night 115. The victory improved her professional record to 8-3-1. Reneau joined the UFC in 2015 and has gone 4-2-1 in the promotion. She holds additional UFC victories over Alexis Dufresne, Jessica Andrade and Milana Dudieva.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 126, Donald Cerrone will continue his welterweight campaign against Yancy Medeiros. Also on the main card, heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Marcin Tybura will battle.
