When Shooto started to use cage at the Korakuen Hall, the set-up of the event itself has changed.
The stage part, which used to be the elevated seats, are now all gone and became the stage for the fighters to walk out of.And Shooto also had to get rid of couple rows of seats on the floor because, simply, the cage is bigger than the ring.
Yet many empty seats were noticeable at all of the recent Shooto events at the Korakuen Hall.
This means, Shooto is having a trouble filling up the Korakuen Hall under the set-up of about little over 1,000 seats.
Not a good sign.
However, the actual fights at Shooto has been fantastic, and the event held at Korakuen Hall on this past Friday was a very good one too.
Both headliner and co-main ended up in a draw but these two fights were one of the best fights of this year.
Especially the co-main, the fight between Takumi Tamaru and Hayato Ishii.
Tamaru won the first, Hayato won the second and the final round was a fantastic seesaw battle with variety of techniques. This was MMA at its best kinda fight.
And a very exciting thing about this fight is, they are probably UFC ready, and both of them are just only 21 years old.
Very exciting prospects in the Japanese MMA for sure.
