The UFC has added a welterweight contest to UFC Fight Night 80. Sheldon Westcott will take on Edgar Garcia at the event, which takes place Dec. 10 at the Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
After dropping his professional debut in 2007, Westcott went on an eight-fight winning streak that earned him a shot on “The Ultimate Fighter: Nations.” His winning ways continued on the reality show as he reached the finals. However, in the finale, he fell to Elias Theodorou. He returned last April and dropped back-to-back bouts for the first time in his career as he fell to Pawel Pawlak.
After one victory in the WEC, Garcia moved to the UFC in 2009. It was a short stay as he dropped a pair of bouts to Brad Blackburn and DaMarques Johnson. From 2010-2014, Garcia put together a 7-1 run and received a fresh invite to the UFC. In his return out, he fell via submission to Hector Urbina at UFC 180.
In the main event of UFC Fight Night 80, Paige VanZant will headline her first event against TUF 20 veteran Joanne Calderwood.
