Salazar faces Palacios in main event of Combate Americas

Ricardo Palacios

Ricardo Palacios put his four-fight win streak on the line against UFC vet Roman Salazar in the main event of Combate Americas 13.  The event takes place April 20th at the Casino Del Sol Resort in Tucson, AZ.  Press releases state the show will be webcast at UFC Fight Pass but Fight Pass does not list the event in this week’s schedule of upcoming events.

In the UFC Roman Salazar went 0-2 with one “no contest”, his last fight in the Octagon being a loss to Marlon Vera in August 2015.  Since then Salazar returned to World Fighting Federation where he defeated Gilberto Aguilar by unanimous decision in November to stand 10-5.  Ricardo Palacios enters this bout 7-1, 4-0 in Combate Americas.  Palacios’ win streak was increased to four in a row last May when he defeated Brandon Royval by unanimous decision at Combate Americas 5.

In the co-main event 15-5 Jacob Ortiz faces 16-6 Eddie Arizmendi.  Ortiz is mainly known for going 0-2 in Bellator but more recently holds wins over Dano Moore and Brendan Tierney.  Arizmendi suffered three losses in a row then took two-and-a-half years off before returning in October 2015 to defeat Brendan Tierney, this bout being his first fight in another year-and-a-half.
