Ross Pearson to face Dan Hooker in Auckland

Hooker vs Pearson

Lightweights Dan Hooker (13-7) and Ross Pearson (19-13) are set to clash at UFC Fight Night 110 in New Zealand. Hooker announced the bout on social media Wednesday.

UFC Fight Night 110 will be held June 10 from Vector Arena in Auckland. A heavyweight matchup between Derrick Lewis and Mark Hunt is expected to headline the card.

Hooker has been competing at featherweight since making his UFC debut in 2014. After going 3-3 in the UFC’s 145-pound division, he’ll now be moving back up to lightweight where he had previously competed prior to signing with the organization. Hooker has seen wins over Ian Entwistle, Hatsu Hioki and Mark Eddiva inside the octagon, but most recently dropped a decision to Jason Knight at UFC Fight Night 101 this past November. The former AFC lightweight champ has six career wins by knockout and six by submission.

Pearson fought five times in 2016 and is in dire need of a win after losing four of those and dropping his last three fights in a row. The 32-year-old TUF 9 winner is coming off a November loss to Stevie Ray via split decision and also dropped decisions to Jorge Masvidal and Will Brooks before that. Pearson’s last victory was a split decision over Chad Laprise in March of last year. “The Real Deal” has scored seven career wins via knockout and five by submission.

With this addition, UFC Fight Night 110 now includes:

  • Mark Hunt vs. Derrick Lewis
  • Derek Brunson vs. Daniel Kelly
  • Joseph Benavidez vs. Ben Nguyen
  • Ashkan Mokhtarian vs. John Moraga
  • Dan Hooker vs. Ross Pearson
