RIZIN 2017 IN YOKOHAMA – 04/16/2017: “I have no regret about UFC” Horiguchi confirmed to take on Yuki Motoya

Kyoji Horiguchi

Kyoji Horiguchi’s first opponent in RIZIN is going to be Yuki Motoya.

This is going to be 58 kg & under bout and its under the RIZIN rules so no elbow strikes will be allowed. Also, just like the old PRIDE rules, its going to be ten-minute first round followed by two five-minute rounds.

Horiguchi came back to Japan last week and held a press conference at the Haneda airport.

Horiguchi began by saying “I have no regret about UFC” and continued explaining on his reason for departing from world’s biggest MMA promoiton, “I was frustrated about not getting fights in the UFC. And if this continues, I felt, maybe I won’t be able to fight at all and in that case it would be a waste, so it came down to this.”

Then, Horiguchi talked about RIZIN, “Just like PRIDE, their entrance is flamboyant. Its the stage I used to admire. I would like to be the one that is going to entertain the fans and tow RIZIN to more popularity.”

His opponent, Motoya, is a former DEEP flyweight champion. He has won 10 of his last 11 fights. However he had bit of weight cut problem last April and since then he has been fighting at 60 kg and above.
